The Montana Board of Bar Examiners has announced that 20 people passed the February 2017 bar examination.
The pass list is posted here.
A total of 39 people took the February exam, for a pass rate of 51.3 percent, which is a record low for Montana.
It is a dramatic drop from the July 2016 test, when 78 percent of Montana exam takers passed, bucking the national trend of falling pass rates.
Montana was not the only state to see a drop in the February 2017 exam. The National Conference of Bar Examiners confirmed to the ABA Journal that this year’s average score of 134.1 is the lowest since the multistate bar exam was first administered in 1972. In February 2016, the average score was 135.
