Judge Sheila Kolar filed Thursday for another four-year term as Billings Municipal Court judge.

First appointed to the bench in 2011 and then elected to a four-year term in 2013, Kolar told the Billings Gazette she most appreciates the opportunity “to work with people with misdemeanors before they become felons.”

A former Yellowstone County deputy attorney and special assistant U.S. attorney, Kolar said an important goal for her next term is to garner permanent funding for the treatment courts she supervises, including drug court, co-occurring court and court for those charged with driving under the influence.
