5 to be interviewed for 13th Judicial District judge position

The Judicial Nomination Commission will interview five candidates for a 13th Judicial District (Yellowstone County) judge position that will become vacant in October. They are:

  • Charles Brentley Brooks
  • Jessica Teresa Fehr
  • Donald L. Harris
  • Jacquelyn Marjorie Hughes
  • Joseph Mathieu Raffiani

Interviews will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, in a conference room at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 956 S. 25th Street W in Billings. Deliberations will follow the last interview. The interviews and deliberations are open to the public; however, public comment regarding the applicants will not be taken because the comment period has closed.

The commission will forward the names of three to five nominees to Gov. Steve Bullock for appointment. The position is subject to election in 2018.  The successful candidate will serve a six-year term. 

Judicial Nomination Commission members are District Judge John C. Brown of Bozeman; Janice Bishop of Missoula; Karl Englund of Missoula; Elizabeth Halverson of Billings; Hal Harper of Helena; Lane Larson of Billings; and Nancy Zadick of Great Falls.
