MEETINGS

Regular Board Meetings are held each month at the office of the current Board President unless otherwise noted. Monthly Bar Luncheons and CLEs are held one Thursday each month, September through May, from noon to 1:00 pm, at 14 N. Church, Bozeman unless otherwise noted.  

MISSION

 

The purposes of the Gallatin County Bar Association are:

  • To improve the administration of and access to justice in Gallatin County and the State of Montana.
  • To uphold and improve professional and educational standards among members of the Bar.
  • To enhance relations between the public and members of the Bar.
  • To promote cordial relations among members of the Bar .

In order to fulfill its mission the Gallatin County Bar Association sponsors and conducts the following activities:

  • CLE Luncheons where speakers from throughout the community and state speak on a variety of legal subjects that effect the legal community. For qualifying luncheons, those attending receive CLE credit from the State Bar of Montana.
  • Rural Declamation Contest. All youth in 7th or 8th grade attending county rural schools may compete in oral or written presentation contest based on a historical person or event. The contestants research the event or person and may present a 5 to 7 minute speech. The contest is sponsored in conjunction with the Gallatin County Superintendent of Schools.
  • Student Scholarships. Gallatin County Bar Association Law Day School Scholarship: Every year, the GCBA provides a $1,000 college/university scholarship to a high school senior (resident of Gallatin County) who wins the GCBA Law Day Essay Contest.
  • Charitable Organizations. The Bar Association lends its support to local charitable organizations each year.
  • Social Events including the annual Christmas gathering, Bar After Hours & other activities.
  • Law Day and Pro Bono Activities
