IOLTA Compliance Certificate Instructions and FAQs
- Log into your State Bar of Montana account (the same account you would use to access the Fastcase member benefit.
- If you have forgotten your password/username, please Click Here.
- Once logged in, you can either return to this webpage and click on the IOLTA Compliance button or use the Quick Links (upper right-hand of your navigation bar) and choose "IOLTA Compliance", which will take you directly to the page where you can complete this year's Attorney Certification.
Every attorney with an active license to practice law in Montana must complete an IOLTA Compliance Certification process. If your Montana license is inactive or you are not licensed to practice law in Montana, you do not need to complete the process.
The IOLTA Compliance Certification process is accessible online through the State Bar of Montana website, at https://iolta.montanabar.org/.
If your email address has changed since you last logged in and you remember your password, you can change the email address your account is listed under by logging in to this website and clicking "Edit Bio" on your profile page.
If you have forgotten your password and your email address has not changed, you may request a new one by clicking here. If you do not receive a password reset email within 5 minutes of requesting a new password, please contact the State Bar of Montana at 406-442-7660.
If you no longer have access to your previous email address AND you have forgotten your password, you will need to call the State Bar of Montana for assistance at 406-442-7660.
Check to be sure you are searching for the firm named on your IOLTA account bank statement. If your firm still does not appear in the firm search field, contact the Montana Justice Foundation at 406-523-3920 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

Yes. All attorneys who are licensed, practice, or work in Montana should complete the Pro Bono Reporting Form individually. Advance through the form to find the appropriate response for your circumstances, including the reason why you did not or could not provide pro bono services.

No, it is only necessary to provide information that applies to your situation. Some questions will require a response; they are marked with an asterisk (*). If you get an error message when you attempt to submit the form, it means that either you failed to answer a required question, or an answer is in the wrong format (e.g. hours entered as 10.00 instead of 10).
You can change an answer by simply typing over your previous response. You can go back and forth between pages by pressing “previous” and/or “next” at the bottom of each page.
If you cannot advance to the next page, it means that either you failed to answer a required question (marked with *), or an answer is in the wrong format (e.g. hours entered as 10.00 instead of 10).
You cannot change your answers online after you have submitted the Pro Bono Reporting Form. If you would like to make changes to your form, contact the Statewide Pro Bono Coordinator. Contact information is below.
Press “exit” in the upper right-hand corner of the page at any time while completing the Pro Bono Reporting Form. When you return, you must access the forms from the same computer in order to pick up where you left off previously. If you use a different computer to revise or finish your forms, you will need to re-complete the information you previously entered. Remember: your Pro Bono Reporting Form is not complete until you press “Submit” at the end.
Allowing only a single submission from a given computer helps preserve the integrity of the data and allows for easier identification of problems. If you have already submitted the Pro Bono Reporting Form, you will not be able to access them again from the same computer, but will be redirected to the Confirmation page.
This is a problem with your browser’s print function: You must have background printing selected. Refer to the following instructions to make sure you have background printing enabled.
- Click the arrow next to Print
- Click Page Setup
- Under Paper Options, check the box next to “Print Background Colors and Images”
- Click OK
- Click File on the menu toolbar
- Click Page Setup
- Check the box next to “Print Background (colors & images)”
- Click OK
- Click the Chrome controls icon (top right of the window)
- Click Print
- Under Options, check the box next to “Background colors and images"
