Disciplinary complaint against Wittich dismissed

A disciplinary complaint against attorney and former lawmaker Art Wittich of Bozeman has been dismissed.

The Montana Office of Disciplinary Counsel brought professional misconduct charges against Wittich in October 2017, stemming from Wittich’s conviction that year for violating campaign finance rules in his 2010 run for Senate District 35.

Montana Free Press reports that ODC filed a motion to dismiss the charges on November, which the Commission on Practice did the same day.

According to Wittich's attorney, Mark D. Parker of Billings, there have been 10 other cases of Montana attorneys and law firms violating campaign finance rules but facing no subsequent disciplinary action, which would have been his argument had the case gone to a hearing.
