State Bar of Montana members in May will vote to elect a new President-Elect, Trustees from five areas and State Bar Delegate to the American Bar Association.
Ballots will be sent to members on May 1. To vote, members must return their ballots postmarked by May 21. Ballots will be counted on June 1.
The two Trustee positions from Area G (Gallatin, Park and Sweetgrass Counties) are up for election. Current Trustee Chris Gray is running for re-election, and Jessica Wilkerson is running for the seat currently held by Lynda White.
The bar has sent candidates a questionnaire to allow members to get to know them better. here are Gray and Wilkerson's responses:
1. What do you feel you will bring to this position? After one term on the Board I believe that I have my feet on the ground. I will continue to be available to the members of Area G. My concentration for the next term will be to support the newly hired Executive Director in working within the new budget to provide the highest level of service to the State Bar membership. I will also support resources that promote the use of technology in legal practice in order to level the playing field for all attorneys no matter the size or capitalization of their firms.
2. What can you tell us about your Area? (i.e. in what way are you familiar with local bar activities, attorneys and events?) – Area G has a great deal of community diversity based on size and concentration of attorneys (e.g. Bozeman, Belgrade, Livingston, Big Timber). A continued goal is to make myself available to members of the State Bar who are not just concentrated in Bozeman. I will be reaching out to those in other parts of the Area for their input on the issues that concern the Bar.
3. Tell us about yourself – how long in practice, solo/firm attorney, etc. – Please see the attached resume which will you that I have been an attorney since 1991 and a member of the Bozeman legal community since 1996. After numerous years as the Chief Civil Deputy County Attorney for Gallatin County, I am currently in solo practice serving governmental and private clients with legal issues including litigation and transactions.
